Thirst of gold: Pascua Lama and intentions of Barrick Gold
Pascua
Lama is a mining project of the company Barrick Gold, headquartered in
Canada, and that involves land in Chile and Argentina. It is an open pit mine that will mainly extracted gold, but also silver, copper and other minerals.
The
gold using cyanide extraction method and the water pollution of
glaciers close to the area of the mine resulted in the widespread
rejection of the project both in Chile and in Argentina.
